The letter found me.
Caught my ankle as I passed, and would not let go, as if imploring me to help.
The rain had cried copious tears upon your words.
My tears joined them as I read.
Nothing is more bittersweet
Than the passion and the pain
Of unrequited love.
Love that second line. Great word choices create a vivid image.

Thank you!!! Think I prefer being succinct, with a few good words, than waxing lyrical. Enjoyed this once I had persuaded it to squeeze out of my brain!!

I love how you made it the rain’s fault for blurring the words. And I like how you personified the letter itself. My only note, and this is totally subjective, but the phrase “My tears joined them as I read” feels self-indulgent to me.
