Playing Around with Playlists

music

I absolutely love music!! I can’t imagine a world without it!! It dictates my mood, defusing anger, raising my spirits, giving me get up and go when I thought it had all but got up and gone. But I am often really curious as to what other people are listening to as they stride past me in the street, plugged into their ipods. I like to imagine that it is something totally at odds with their appearance! The sweet little old lady listening to the Sex Pistols perhaps? Or the big burly biker relaxing to a bit of opera? My favourites vary wildly from week to week, but as part of Day 19, trying a new type of post, I thought I would share my current top ten. What is your playlist like? Which track gives you the boost you need? Does your choice in music surprise other people? Which one makes you dance like nobody’s watching?

Cake – Love You Madly

 Fall Out Boy – I Don’t Care

Panic! At The Disco – Nearly Witches [Ever Since We Met…]

 Jack White – I’m Shakin’

 Kasabian – Fast Fuse

Maroon 5 – Harder To Breathe

 Kasabian – Underdog

Franz Ferdinand – Take Me Out

Kings Of Leon – Sex On Fire

 4 Non Blondes – What’s Up?

  1. While I’m sitting here listening to your top 10, I’m thinking about what my top 10 would be. I have such diverse taste in music that it’s hard to pick out favorites- other than John Lennon and the Beatles (of course!!) I am really into Phantom of the Opera, the Frozen soundtrack, let’s see, what else? I have a strong disco playlist that has held strong since my teen days. So, I love musicals, Alanis Morisette, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, jazz, Trace Adkins, Carpenters, Imagine Dragons…..you name it.

I know some of your top 10 songs and I like the ones I know. Definitely some high energy get your blood pumping attitude music! I like it!!! It sounds like the music my best friend is always giving me to listen to. She’s always giving me CD’s to listen to under the guise of “thinking I will like it” and I always wonder if she’s also making a statement about the abysmal taste I have in music. :-/

    • My taste in music is actually a bit more eclectic than my list might suggest. I’ve always liked the slightly louder music, bit of a Stones girl myself, but I also love ballads, was brought up on Sinatra, my Mother’s favourite. And don’t get me started on musicals!! I adore them!! In my late teens, my friends and I staged an impromptu one on a bus!! It was hilarious. You know when people stare sraight ahead trying desperately not to make eye contact!! Hahaha!! We just wanted to test the theory that everyone in the town joins in with the song and dance routine, as they do in the films. And of course, I have songs from the first time I was with Torn-Apart. Oh, and Bowie, always Bowie. And my first ever LP that I ever bought was Neil Sedaka, bet you weren’t expecting that!!!

      • So, I take it you didn’t find yourself in the middle of a full blown dance number on the bus? 🙂 and no, Neil Sedaka was not expected. I grew up with a father who could find a song to fit every occasion. To this day I find myself knowing obscure songs and not knowing why until it occurs to me- oh yeah, Dad must have sung that.

      • No sadly, no-one joined in 😦 we planned it meticulously, even got on at different stops, and sat in different seats!! It was hilarious!!! It was my maternal granny, and paternal grandad that used to sing. Sadly, they both died before I was five!!

      • I wish I could have witnessed your attempt at that. How could you even keep a straight face? 🙂 I’m so glad I was able to pass on my love of musicals (and music) to my kids!
